The Melasti ceremony is a ceremony for the purification of the world and one's self, as well as taking holy water (the symbol of life in water or coastal sources). On the appointed day, all sacred symbols, be it statues (symbols of the gods) and other ceremonial equipment paraded into the sea or water source. Arriving there, people do a praying to God as the ruler of the ocean to deign to clean the universe and provide water of life to his people. After the symbolic ceremony was completed, the convoy returned to the village with holy water. Arriving in the village, all the statues of the gods will be placed in Pura Bale Agung for 2-3 days. During that time the villagers will bring an offering called "Prani" to be placed at the temple of the Bale Agung.
