Explore Stone Garden in West Bandung

Stone Garden, is one of the tourist attractions in Padalarang, Bandung. In accordance with its name that there is the word "Stone", this place does provide beautiful scenery of rocks. However, the rocks in this place are not just ordinary rocks. According to geologists, the rocks that exist in this place is a mountain that is in the primordial seabed estimated 27 million years old with the findings of animal fossils! You can imagine that this place was previously at the bottom of the sea! Now, we need a little hike to get to the top.

Stone Garden is a Site of Archaeological Heritage

 


Because of the history of the rocks, Stone Garden is also known as "Stone Park" or Geopark. This geopark offers a different atmosphere than a typical vacation spot. This tourist attraction provides a view of karst stones with a variety of sizes. This Geopark is located 700m above sea level, but do not be afraid, because this is not a steep climb like the mountains in general. The streets of Stone Garden are quite sloping, safe for children and also neatly arranged. In fact, many say that the Geopark Stone Garden is similar to  Christmas Island, Australia. After 30 minutes of hiking, your tiredness will be paid by the amazing landscape you can enjoy. 

Moreover, the Stone Garden tourist destination is managed by the local Community called "Pokdarwis Pasir Pawon." This community consists of local tour guide and a youth group. Since 2015, they have been working hard to maintain the beauty of this sights and to improve the destination's facilities. Prior to the official launching of the Stone Garden as a tourist destination, they actually were stone miners around the site. Due to the high historical value, they decided to stop mining and turn it into an attractive tourist destination.  

Explore Guha Pawon



Guha Pawon is another ancient relic site other than Stone Garden. It is not far from the Stone Garden, about 500 m in the lower plain of Stone Garden. According to the legend, the fossils of human bones that were once found in this cave were believed as the elders of Sunda region which covers the western part of Java Island. 

In addition, Guha Pawon is also known as a cave filled with bats. However, the cave is not too dark like caves in general because light can still enter through the sidelines of the cave sky. Upon arrival in the cave, we will find some ancient human skulls. Since it has been given a fence, we can only see it without touching it.

Still inside the cave, as we step foot, we'll find some really cool places for photos. It is suitable to give new colors to your Instagram or Instastories feed. Object of wisatanta is equipped with public toilets, mushola, and food stalls run by local residents.
